This drawing is inspired by the Sabian Symbol for "30 Pisces": "The Great Stone Face" in the Dr Marc Edmund Jones version of the Symbols, Sabian Symbols in Astrology.
There are, as you probably know, word pictures or Symbols for each of the 360 degrees of the circle or zodiac. "30 Pisces", the end of the circle or cycle, is just before 00Aries00, which is a World Point--the Aries Point. In the West, Spring begins when the Sun reaches the Aries Point--the Spring Equinox--the beginning of the Western zodiac.
"The Great Stone Face" = "Human responsibility as an immortality of the soul, and of a way of living which has become a continual manifestation of its ideal and so a constant dramatization of its self-discovery to others as an encouragement to them in their own alignment to eternal reality.
Each individual selects the image within himself to which he would shape himself outwardly, and this he comes to resemble as in Nathaniel Hawthorne's tale, The Great Stone Face. Destiny is character as it most persistently constitutes itself." Keyword:DISCERNMENT -The Sabian Symbols in Astrology, MEJ.
The Dane Rudhyar version of the Sabian Symbols, An Astrological Mandala, gives the keyword for this degree as: "ARCHETYPALIZATION...the power of archetypes as factors conditioning life processes. Keynote: The power of clearly visualized ideals to mold the life of the visualizer."
Or, alternately, in fewer words, and with some kind of a Celtic accent: we're all the otters of our own fat.

><>Neptune's current transit to 18 Aquarius--the Unmasking Degree--seems to be bringing to light some of my mask-related drawings. Follows the Cosmic Persona theme, I'm thinking.
18 AQ+ is opposite the Solar Eclipse degree of 18 Leo+ of August 11, 1999.
That's the one Nostradamus warned about and named the "King of Terror" Eclipse. Well, apparently he knew things would be 'forever changed' after it--a phrase you've heard a lot in relation to the attacks of 9/11/01. Venus was at 18 Leo+ on 9/11/01 thereby triggering the Eclipse degree. Venus is warlike, y'know...esp when scorned or betrayed!
And we've certainly been seeing a lot of Unmasking going on lately, haven't we?
You can be sure there's more to come...in fact, some astrologers say that Saturn's transit to Eclipse Degree, 18Leo+ (3 hits: Sept '06, March and May '07) will be when bin Laden will be captured or killed. This reluctant astrologer isn't so sure binnie will be the one snared under the moniker, "King of Terror", but we'll see...Saturn--control, restriction--to Venus of 9.11.01...well, maybe so!
>>>>>And, of course, there's the upcoming Solar Eclipse at 18AQ+, the Unmasking Degree, which is opposite the 1999 Eclipse degree: Feb 7 2008, in the 10 North Series:
Frustrating or inhibiting events occur via paperwork, news, or young people. There is a tired, drained feeling, with an emphasis on communications, and difficulties are best worked on one at a time.
This Series initially began April 25, 944 (OS), so if you remember what was going on in 944 ;) you may have an inkling of the theme for early 2008.
Previous years in which this Series occurred: 1917, 1935, 1954, 1972, 1990, >2008<, and 2026.
She hung the old drawing of Moonbeam Lake on the chiffon screen even though it was looking more than a little tarnished. Perhaps the aluminum pencil embossing had gone dull after almost ten years, but it brightened up the place all the same, she thought.
Besides, seeing it always reminded her of the '96 Olympics, and the electrical storm that drenched and bedraggled her twice in one day.

Here's a look at Timeless Path, a drawing which won a smally Merit Award at a city exhibition in Atlanta, GA during the 1996 Summer Olympics.
As a native Georgian, I was happy to represent the state of Georgia in a world event with so many other artists, and was amazed that two of my drawings were accepted--Moonbeam Lake was on display also, and is from a 1995 picture book for children titled, Silvery Tree Path. I am, as you see, all about paths, as well as masks!
My drawings from this period are embossed with aluminum pencil, and this visionary scene is from a series whose copyright, 'Unscene World' is on the verge of being revived--I'm in a cosmic mood, m'peops.
Metallic pencil embossing, which is poo-pooed by many, gives even more depth--quite a 3-D effect--when used on black paper.
But see what you think, and let me know! Should I revive Unscene World?
Welcome to one of my Art Gallery blogs, this one displaying cameos of some of my 'sexy-fun art' pencil portraits inspired by backstage figure studies w a fanciful and fashionable flair. A few mask-themed portraits appear here as well.

Pardon My 'Cafe Press' Inconvenience:
Having closed my all my Art Shops at the excellent Cafe Press in order to focus exclusively on a certain Zazzle Art Shop, all this blog's Cafe Press links which you may haplessly click upon will not come a-Live for you.
Therefore, only a cul-de-sac awaits you if you insist on following such a very elusive rabbit to nowhere...
And since Blogger couldn't handle my figure studies, most if not all images of that sort have been removed.
